Research

I work closely with Dr Tatiana Perova's Microelectronics Technology Group at Trinity College Dublin. I worked on the ATLAS detector at CERN as a student.

Teaching

I am a huge fan of MATLAB® for technical computing and data visualisation. You can install it free if you are student at TU Dublin.

Look at WolframAlpha if you would like to do some tricky calculus or just some plots for a lab or project.  If you fancy doing some non-credit courses online, check out MIT's Open Courseware or iTunesU.

Consumer Electronics

If you are interested in The Electronics and Computer Industry, the nearest thing on the Web to a Journal of Record is probably Arstechnica. Personally, my favourite site covering this area is The Register simply because it is the funniest.

If you are thinking of buying a PC, or any consumer electronic device,  check out the reviews at Techradar, which reviews most of the PCs available in Ireland.

Podcasts

Podcasts are a great way of keeping up with the Industry. The best technology podcasts are probably those produced by Leo Laporte and his friends at the TWIT network, Windows Weekly and MacBreak Weekly are probably of most interest. Also on TWIT, This Week in Tech and This Week in Google are self explanatory.

Closer to home, the PC Pro podcast from Merrie England is also well worth a listen.

All of these podcasts are available from iTunes.

Astronomy

If you want to know what is happening in Irish amateur astronomy the IFAS website is a good place to start.
